DELL - Back to Founder


Micahel Dell, the founder of DELL company which is the world leading computer makers, is going to buy back the company. He will buy the firm for $24.4b along with technology investor Silver Lake and with financial backing from Microsoft.

Dell Inc. is a world famous computer technology corporation based in Texas United States. The company has provided many services that develops, sells, repairs and supports computers and related products. It was established in May 1st, 1984 by Michale Dell.

This big firm bearing its founder's name is employing more than 103,300 people world wide. It is the sixth largest company in Texas by total revenue.

The first computer "Turbo PC" was produced in 1985 and was sold for $795. In the first year of sale, the company earned more than $73 million  as gross. After 1992 Fortune magazine included its list of the world's 500 largest company. Then he was marked as the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company ever. Since 1993 to 2004, Dell had a steady growth and gained market share from competitors.

How ever in 2005, the sales growth of the company slowed considerably, the company stock lost 25% of its value that year. 2006 showed slower growth of DELL than the PC industry as a whole. At the end of the year it lost its title of the largest PC manufacturer to rival Hewlett Packard.

On 5th February 2013, Dell announced the company is to bought by the founder Michael Dell and Silver Lake Partners with additional funding from Microsoft.
