How to make white border for your photo in Photoshop

“How to make a white border around a photo?” One of my friends asked this question. While answering him, I came up with the idea of writing this as a post which may be helpful for a thousand of users who have this question in their minds.

When making a graphic design using Photoshop, sometimes we need to add a border around the pictures. Many graphic designers use various tricks to put borders. Here I am going to give you a simple method to make a border.

Step 1: Open your picture with Photoshop and press Ctrl + A to select whole picture.

Step2:  Go to Edit > Stroke. The Stroke setting panel will display. First, give a size in ‘Width’ box. The size is very important thing while making border. This may vary according to your size of the picture. Try with a random number [i.e. 50px]. After seeing the results then change it if you need. The second setting is color. Choose a color as you like. Under the Location, choose ‘Inside’ option button. You have a choice to change the blending mode. But if you want a solid color, the blend mode must be ‘Normal’ and opacity is 100%.

Step 3: Now click OK button

Step 4: Click Ctrl + D or go to Select > Deselect. [To deselect the selection]

That’s all. Now your photo appears with nice white border.
